Bettas are one of the easiest anabantoids to keep in the home aquarium due to their labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe air from the surface. Male bettas are highly territorial and should not be kept with other bettas. Bettas are tropical fish and should be kept between 74 – 82 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended to keep each betta in a 2 gallon or larger tank with a heater, filter and live plants. Weekly water changes of 50% are recommended to keep the water clean. Bettas are carnivores and require a mix of betta pellets, flake food, frozen foods and freeze dried foods that are high in protein. Feed once per day.
