The Ember Blenny is also known as the Red-streaked Blenny, or Scarlet-spotted Blenny. The males are generally larger than the females and experience a succession of color changes when breeding.
It requires a well-established tank with plenty of scattered rocks for perching and hiding, and live rock with microalgae growth on which to feed. Unlike most blennies, the Ember Blenny requires a meaty diet including finely chopped crustacean flesh, mysis and vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, along with frozen herbivorous preparations, micro and blue-green algae. If housing more than one Ember Blenny in an aquarium, it is best to acclimate them at the same time. Otherwise, aggression between the two may occur.
